HOOQ and Chill with the Asia premiere of Ash vs. Evil Dead

Last month, I got into a discussion with some friends on the popular ‘Netflix and Chill’ line an how it is (fortunately and unfortunately) irrelevant in the Philippines. We eventually got into talking about local versions and realized that we’ve got an even better line…

“Chill and HOOQ up.” It just makes so much more sense. I now declare that as a thing. Now the question is, what non-sappy, non-romantic, non-dramatic flick can we watch on HOOQ that doesn’t look like we’re trying so hard but at the same time has its share of hand-holding thrills?

Try the new horror-comedy series Ash vs. Evil Dead. If you’re familiar with the Evil Dead franchise, director Sam Raimi and horror icon Bruce Campbell are back to once again deliver the beloved and celebrated world of Evil Dead for the original television series made for the US network, Starz.

Ash vs Evil Dead

This series that has critics, horror fans, and film enthusiasts abuzz sees actor Bruce Campbell reprising his role as Ash Williams from the original Evil Dead series as the chainsaw-wielding, monster-shredding slacker. Anti-hero Ash Williams, now somewhat aged but still quick-witted as ever, fights the forces of evil that turn unsuspecting people and inanimate objects into wise-cracking killing machines called Deadites. Ash vs. Evil Dead also features franchise newcomers Lucy Lawless, Mimi Rogers, and Jill Marie Jones. Enjoy “splat-stick” at its finest as the offbeat and endearing characters find themselves in gruesomely hilarious situations with Deadites.

The first season, rated by Rotten Tomatoes as “Certified Fresh” 97% rating based on 38 critic reviews, is now available on HOOQ. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial on http://www.HOOQ.tv to get started with your own chill and HOOQ up. With Globe users (yay!), the monthly fee for HOOQ access is P149.00 on top or your mobile bill (text HOOQ149 to 8888).
