Southern Gem: Rekados Cafe and Restaurant

I live so down south from Manila that the Tagaytay road trips are nothing but 10-minute car rides for me. In the recent years, so many great eats have been popping up in the Sta. Rosa, Laguna – Tagaytay area — each one undoubtedly exuding that relaxed Southern vibe plus the literal “chill” that all tourists (and Northerners) come down here for.

In tonight’s feature, we share with you a new gem we’ve discovered along the road to Tagaytay: Rekados Cafe & Restaurante. This one tops the list of my must-visit dining areas in town.

Situated along the National Road (Sta. Rosa – Tagaytay Rd.), Brgy. Pasong Langka Purok V, before hitting Tagaytay City, is a beautiful old Filipino-Spanish style compound that is nothing but romantic by night.

One cannot help but feel at home in Rekados. The fresh flowers on every table, the iconic capiz windows, the dramatic lighting — all very well-situated and all too romantic! (Ahem, date place.)

Just a bit of trivia: a lot of high profile proposals have happened in this hidden piece of paradise. One good example is the super heartwarming proposal of OPM Band Parokya ni Edgar’s frontman Chito Miranda to his girlfriend Neri Naig.

Glorious! Those who know me, know that I am a pizza fanatic! This Three Cheese Pizza is something I will definitely crave for. Fresh and true to its original Italian taste, commercial 3 cheese 4 cheese 5 cheese kinds can’t compare.

Muy delicioso! I am in love with the cream, not too heavy and tasty to the last bite.

Will we come back for more Rekados? YES. I’m super glad I also got to enjoy this experience with my family. The ambiance was something everyone appreciated, it was a break away from it all. Pricing was definitely on point, inexpensive when you consider the quality of food and the environment. With hopes to expand, Rekados is marked as one of my “must bring my North friends here” spots and definitely one for future special occasions.
